That’s a shame @Voxman but I see what you mean. I’ve got my first proper jam session on Saturday so interested to see how a. it sounds through something that isn’t headphones and b. how I can set it up so it works well enough for a one off gig. The inability to name a pedal/ switch as to what it’s actually doing is going to be a pain in the arse, but as it’s only a one off gig (currently) I’ll have to make it work
I think most folk are assigning these in a 'fixed' way eg CTRL 1 = Distortion, 2 Modulation, 3 Delay, 4 Reverb  - that way they know what they're pressing - or even adding sticky labels. This kills the whole point of being able to allocate any FX you want to a footswitch, and having different things for different patches and frankly this archaic approach went out with the arc. My Tonelab SE/LE from 2004/2007 respectively have fixed footswitches (plus one control switch you can customise) but at least these are physically marked pedal, modulation, delay, reverb, control.  The other really annoying thing is that lets say you have a patch where you only need to assign 2 or 3 footswitches. Instead of the unassigned switches -just being 'dark' with no lighting so you know they're unassigned, the GP200 still shows them lit as red/yellow - so you have no way to tell if its assigned or not!  And in factory patches the red/yellow control switch colours alternate i.e. even in the same patch  red is 'on' for two switches but for the other two yellow is on!   It's just plain daft.

I actually prepped a detailed 7/8 page assessment of the GP200 - if you PM me your email I'm happy to send you a .pdf
I started out with nothing..... but I've still got most of it left (Seasick Steve)

For those interested in the GP200 I've added my assessment of this MFX to the FX review section here:
