Moleskin trousers

What's Hot
How about that for a thread name!

I got two pairs of these the other day and they feel great! But now I'm checking out how to wash them and reading horror stories ("should buy one waist larger than you are due to shrinkage," "dry cleaning is best," "if no dry cleaning, wash them inside out with cold water and hang to dry"). I wonder if the wash with cold water includes a tablet! I've also read about the material "streaking" in a bad way.

So who's got similar and what are your moleskin tales lol?

to my knowledge mine have never shrank, just get bunged in the machine. fucking nightmare with cats tho, more snags than moleskin.

I was really disappointed to discover they are not actually made from moles. Then one of the cats brought in a mole and I was glad, cos moles are really stinky. You'd be walking around with stinky trousers all the time.

Mine are done in the machine on a 30 deg wash, usual powder.

Doubtless different grades of the fabric from different makers behave differently, but that's what we do :)

Moleskin! Next it will be corduroy, then when the mid-life crisis kicks in - leather... :)

With the exception of thermals, if it can't survive a 40 deg wash and tumble dry, it's useless.

  • Ah don't say that! I'm going to try and keep them well maintained, they are so warm and feel great! I also checked out a blue tweed jacket which looked super cool..

I killed a mole in the garden the other day, anyone fancy a pair of trousers? Although they'll have to be small as I've got only got one mole ;-)

I've heard of "moleskin" many times, but I've never learned what it actually is.

I always thought moleskin was posh corduroy.

    Corduroy - now there's a hideous material.

Corduroy was all the rage when I was younger.

    But then so were flares.

Moleskin trousers are the best you can wear when out pheasant shooting.  A Barbour coat and a Purdey and you are all set to go....
