    I've updated the list based on what I think is the status and based on "the universe of songs"   we've performed with @mrkb on drums. I've also updated the spreadsheet at the link in the original post on this thread.

    btw. I'm down for bass on a lot of them because there was nobody else who volunteered. I'm happy to play bass or guitar on any of the ones where I'm listed.

    Hopefully it's correct, so let me know if I've missed anything.

  • Many thanks @stratman3142. We could really do with hearing from everyone who has not yet provided their input on which roles they can take on these tracks.

  • final call for @bobblehat @RR50 and @SPECTRUM001

  • Hi there and apologies !

    I can definitely make the Jam Session and should be good for the songs I previously played on.

    However....without a vocalist, I can't see them being particularly interesting (the four cyclical chords of the Passenger are fun to dig in, though not quite sure the same for everyone else !!!!).

    Was also hoping to add Hanging Around, which @mrkb has the drum notation and @RR50 said he would consider bass. Again though - would need vocals.

    Thought I should check availability with Firebird. The good news is that the large room we usually book is available all day on 19th and 20th October. However we still need a vocalist and probably a bassist. Sometime soon we will need to decide how, and if, this event is going ahead...

    I'm happy to play bass instead of guitar, but I can't help with the vocals.

  • Does anyone know a vocalist from outside tfb community they could ask?

    Would appreciate deciding if this is going ahead by next weekend. I’ll need to relearn the drum tracks which will take time and effort , and there’s also a gig in Birmingham on Sat 19th I’d like to go to if the jam isn’t happening (so want to buy a ticket)

    Unfortunately the vocalists I know aren't really suited to the material in the song list.

    My feeling is that it's not looking hopeful, unless a vocalist suddenly appears.

    For a possible future Jam (that's possibly more Blues/Jazz based) we could consider some instrumentals. We do a few in a Jam Band I run for the U3A, such as the following tunes. However, it would be a very different kind of Jam and not to everyone's taste, so I'm not sure how much interest there would be in that.

    Blues Walk (Lou Donaldson)
    Cantaloupe Island (Herbie Hancock)
    Chitlins Con Carne (Kenny Burrell)
    Oye Como Va (Santana) - there's just a simple vocal melody part that can be played on guitar
    Watermelon Man (Herbie Hancock)

    It's not a competition.

  • As demand for this event has been limited this time, perhaps we should pull the plug now?
    0reaction image LOL 0reaction image Wow! 0reaction image Wisdom
  • Yeah I think you guys are dead right - I don't know a singer who could do this list either - and its not fair on Mark given he's got to re-learn everything - I'm wondering the same @Brocco ...
    I'm always looking for interesting USA Hamers for sale.

    At the moment I'm looking for:

    * Hamer SS2 & T62
    * Music Man Luke 1

    Please drop me a message.

  • If it doesn't work out, could we organise a smaller get together somewhere, just to exchange ideas about gear and playing etc?

    We don't even need a rehearsal studio, and could use a small hall, as I've got a PA. I might even be able to muster up some backing tracks to play over, like a live version of Solo of The Month :)

    Just a thought.

    It's not a competition.

    Not being in a band, I'm up for such a get together @stratman3142.Hopefully some others in our group will feel the same. It would provide an opportunity to fine-tune my set-up, maybe try some instrumental tracks, and perhaps trade solos on some blues tracks.

  • Yeah I’m up for that for sure :)

  • Yeah, this one is looking unlikely - which is a shame.

    I would be up for for anything really (location dependent) although very limited what I can contribute musically (not that that matters too much !!).

    That's a great idea. I've barely been on here all summer with one thing and another, so completely out of the loop and the date doesn't look possible for me now either. A small get-together to swap ideas and jam would be awesome though.

  • Cheers @Vibetronic - there are now 5 of us interested so we will need to think about when and where we can make this happen
