  • Lovely.  Took them long enough though.  I thought they were going to release this at the same time as the upgraded MS50G.

The original series were great, and these look like they are too. Navigation seems to be improved over the fiddly original.

If it matches or even improves upon the old sounds, I'm in, especially now that it has bigger buttons for easier live navigation and it has MIDI so I can marry it up to my Boss SDE3000 EVH.

I've been waiting for news on this one and my old one doesn't leave my board. Dark horse is a good description of these pedals and Gassage once mentioned that the guitarist in a UK Pink Floyd tribute was using 2 of these for his sounds.

It's MIDI via USB just like the original version, so you'd still need an outboard USB -> MIDI interface = I'm out :-(

I had the original one and while it was great I just couldn't cope with the fiddly UI. I ended up giving it to my daughter and buying a Line6 M5 instead. The UI on the M5 is massively better and I think it sounds a little better too. I do sometimes miss the ability to stack multiple effects though.

I'm happy with my MS50G (loaded with the MS70CDR effects) but I wish it had true bypass.   I use a Boss LS2 to bypass mine.

Doesn't look like they've added any new sounds which is a darn shame.

i've only recently removed my 100BT from my board after it being there for years and years and i gotta say it's refreshing it's not there as i relied on it so much with its massive reverbs etc

When I had the MS-50G, I found it had tone suck. As I didn't need the Amps, preamps, ODs etc and just wanted the fx, I tried the MS70CDR and compared it and the tone suck was gone. Have you experienced this with the MS50G? Just curious if it was me  :o

No tone suck at all, and my usage is the same (i.e. FX only).  I've got an MS70CDR in the cupboard which I occasionally use for synths - I had them both on my guitar board at one point, there was ansolutely nothing between them.  I've read all sorts about the MS70CDR having better convertors (which I hightly doubt) and more processing power (which given the MS50G can run the MS70CDR models is proven wrong), I just assumed it was internet bullshit.  Perhaps they weren't all created equally, but mine perform absolutely identically.

Neither of mine have any perceivable tone suck, the only thing they both do is inject a very tiny bit of white noise into the chain (which I've found most digital pedals do) - but I mean tiny.  it just annoys my analogue brain that my signal is running through two lots of AD/DA convertors whether I'm using it or not!  Although the external bypass does mean I can use the Zoom footswitch as a patch selector.

That's good to know as I experienced that, and some noise, before the comments came out on the internet  - thanks

If anyone is experiencing a bit of white noise on the multistomps, there is a pretty good fix available if you use the Zoom Effect Manager open source software - details here: https://zoomeffectmanager.com/en/effects/
It's a modified version of the Bass Para EQ which can dial out the relevant frequency. All credit to Victor Tabas, it's a great addition. And the software in general makes it a doddle to add effects from the different models, top stuff!

European shops like Thomann and Bax are showing it as arriving in 10-12 weeks and with a price of just over £140

A bit of a necro-bump, but following on from this, I did get one of these and was very disappointed as I didn't think it was as good as the original version in sound.

It's still a very capable unit with better navigation than the original, and if you're owning one for the first time, you may not notice anything 'thinner' or brittle about the sounds, but I didn't like it and returned it and I'm glad I've stuck with my trusted original version. On that note, if anyone has an original one to sell, I'd be interested.

Surprised by this. I A-Bd them for a bit when the new one arrived. Could barely tell them apart. If anything, for me the new one had a little more clarity.

Really? I'd say there is more clarity to the new one, but I didn't think it was nice. It goes to show and I did have an issue with the
MS-50G and thought there was 'tone suck'. It just goes to show what our ears and brain tell us and I'm glad it's worked out well for you
Anyone got one of the new ones or had both? EDIT: Sorted and got one

    I've had the MS50G, MS70CDR and I have the MS70CDR+.

I had the 50G at the same time as the CDR+, i had the 50G loaded with the CDR algorithms so other than not having stereo in, it was a like for like comparison.

I'm with John.  The + sounded very similar but with no tone suck (I used to bypass mine when off), less noise and a higher fidelity.

No complaints, it's better in every way apart from the build materials.  Lots more plastic on the new ones.
