Although having said that, I'm still baffled as to what is so indigenous about hops. Nothing!
Hops have been grown know Kent for 500 years  doesn't that qualify as indigenous?

Not really. Indigenous, for me, is ale, flavoured with hyssop or rosemary.
Some folks like water, some folks like wine.
    My feedback thread is here.

I would like to make mention of the Hogsback Brewery's Hogstar.

    It's like lager but delicious.

Does not compute.  It's lager or it's delicious.  Don't see how it can be both.
I understand your position entirely, but I still maintain mine.

It has far more flavour than most lagers, much more depth. I think it's that it's brewed in the lager style but has far more hops.

It's like the next step up from a Czech type pilsner doodad (using my best beer-expert words).
