Weirdest targeted ad ever

Either the Facebook algorithm is completely borked or I’m missing something… 

As tenuous links go, this targeted ad is somewhere between “irrelevant” and “One Show segue”…

The algorithm probably made the tenuous link between one keyword in the advertisement and your manifest interest in guitars.

I have no idea whether turmeric really benefits the immune system or how it could benefit guitar playing. 

I get all my turmeric intake from curries.

Weird, I got a very similar one but it said “wanting sex with local UK Grannies, try Ultra Turmeric”

I get ''water tables'' - tables made with epoxy resin and generally wood though lots of other maters are also shown in the ads, ads all the time.  I bloody hate the things, they look like something that a teenager would have in their bedroom.

Nope, the Facebook algorithm is working perfectly in trying to persuade you to view & buy shit, regardless of relevance, need or want.

I've had that Turmeric ad on FB too. Some of the comments below it are from equally bemused guitarists.

As it happens Turmeric very good for lubricating the joints for us ageing peeps who are suffering, so really great outside the box thinking by their advertising department. Mrs M takes Curcumin the active ingredient in Turmeric for her knackered shoulder

This is exactly right. Turmeric is widely considered beneficial for easing arthritic pain. Whether or not it actually IS I couldn't say, but that's why you're being advertised it.

It doesn't exist for the user's benefit so given its design goals it is probably extremely good at what it does
