Hi all,

Off the back of people nominating tunes to be whittled down via a world cup to 10-15 tracks to be a bunch of standards that we can always fall back on when we've run out of things to play together at meetups and jams we are starting today.

There's 10 groups. Meant to be 10 songs per group but we had more nominations so they are each a bit over.

Just list your top 5 songs from each group in no particular order. Will leave a bunch of groups up a week before tallying scores and doing the next lot until starting the 2nd group stage. Once we have our winners I'll make a post with lessons, backing tracks etc.

Will do my own nominations in the next post to make it all obvious.

I don't understand this. What's the criteria for a song being in either group 1 or 2? Who chose the 100+ songs to start with? Why not have all 10 groups listed at once like you would in a football world cup? Why wasn't it done via genre? I think I've missed something here.

I asked people to suggest songs, which they did. I bumped the thread in here in this section. There was plenty of time to have those conversations. I don't really care about genre tbh. Nobody at the jams discusses what genre of song. Just what song they want to play.

I'm doing 2 groups per week to give people time to vote, and because I can't be fucked to tally all 10 group's votes at the same time.

Just trying to do something nice, mate.
