More band members than AUX sends for IEMs...

OK maybe a silly question...

If you're using wired IEMs with each band member having their own headphone amp, how do you get the AUX send to 5 different people ?

I get it with wedges, you go into the 1st and thru to the next etc

Do you need a splitter to take the AUX feed from the desk that the 5 people then take their feed from ?

Normally each band member has their own aux send ... otherwise everyone would have the same monitor mix. For stereo IEM mixes each band member needs 2 aux sends each.

You can split one send but it's a bit barbaric :)

ok - so my desk is a Behringer X2442 that has 4 x aux sends, so I could do an aux send each to the other 4 band members, and i could use the main phones out as a duplicate of FOH

does that make sense, or is there an easier way ?

Yes you can do that.  From memory 2 are post fader so the level for monitoring will rise and fall with the fader level, which isn't ideal but workable. The other 2 are switchable to pre fader which is ideal for monitoring.
