Hard Case for Taylor GSMini

Hi there,
I travel a fair amount for work and like, on longer trips (and when on holiday), to have my Taylor Mini with me.
However, airlines are fussier about what can be  carried on and Taylor mini guitars with their standard 'gig bag' are really a little bit big - sometimes I get away with it, sometimes I have to hand it in at the Gate to go along with pushchairs etc. - I worry that one day I am not going to get away with it and may be forced to check it in normally.
Therefore, I am thinking about getting a hard case for it so I shall check it in, and it will be reasonably protected.
SKB do a hard case specifically for it but the price of it is quite high relative to the value of the guitar but I do need a reasonable quality hard case.
Does anyone have any alternative ideas?

Could you get a cheaper travel guitar instead to use while away?

If the SKB price and risk of hold damage are a concern (I used to have a GSmini so have been through this, only good for carry on for long haul flights) then I'd personally change tack. I bought an electric travel guitar recently and plan to get a Katana go. The whole thing is specifically for unobtrusive carry on.

Unfortunately, I don’t think that they do - all are subtly different. A good idea though.

I just bought a hiscox pro ii classical case for a friend. Even the small size he got looks far too big. Measurements are on their site. And anything less than the max dimensions will flop around. His guitar was 5mm larger than the max dimensions on their site and a bit loose against the pads.

I had one of those and it was very good. I stupidly sold it with a guitar.
