Conscious there's another very similar thread out there so not intending to hijack that, but I'm finding myself lacking enough 24-fret hardtail guitars, looking for something very similar!

Key features:
  • 24 big frets
  • Fixed bridge
  • Arm contour
  • Preferably ebony board
  • Preferably passive pickups (may consider EMGs, but absolutely no Fishmans)
  • Bridge humbucker as a minimum (happy with HH, H, HSS, HSH...)
Some nice-to-haves would be stainless frets (though actually decent fretwork is more important), inlays rather than a blank board, lightweight, straight string pull. Could be convinced by 7 strings. Scale length negotiable, but it'll likely be going in drop-C.

Some of the things are negotiable - I'm not going to ignore things with maple boards, but we'll see!

Budget likely up to around £1.5k but not desperate to spend all of that if I don't have to. Based in Manchester, so collectable or shipping necessary with that in mind!

Thanks!

    Pretty sure they've done a couple of hardtail DK24s, and maybe a So-Cal Style 2? Can't recall anything super exciting but if you've got something interesting I'd absolutely have a look!

    And thanks - tweaked the intro to make it clearer that I'm not necessarily drawn to one brand or another... I was mostly listing brands that I could think of that definitely offer models that seem to tick at least some of the boxes! Feels like the majority of superstrats get a Gotoh 510 slapped on them these days...

Thinking along the lines of ESP, Mayones, maybe Strandberg... no particular brand or model in mind though so open to suggestions!

    Since you mentioned Strandberg, I guess you'd consider Kiesel headless, too.

    I've got a 7 string Vader which fits all the requirements. Comes with the Kiesel headless soft/hardcase.

    See, I've got a Pro-Mod So-Cal Style 2. Hardtail, 24 frets, and an arm contour, but it's got Fishman Fluence pickups and a roasted maple neck.

    But how about the Pro-Mod DK24? Duncans and an Ebony board. It also comes in black  ;)

    Not my auction but I just saw this on Reverb - I have two 7421s and they're amazingly good for the money, lovely neck and really good basic tone from the wood (i.e. a great basis for upgrading the pickups, although the stock ones are again surprisingly good for the money):  https://reverb.com/uk/item/83928739-ibanez-rg7421-wnf-standard-with-jatoba-fretboard-2018-present-walnut-flat

    You can have my Carillion 7 string in Olivewood for 2800 if you like.

  • Thanks for the suggestions! Don’t think I’d stretch to the Carillion unfortunately, and Ibanez necks are probably bottom of my list comfort-wise at the moment.

    I'd bung in the suggestion of a used Music Man Silhouette - I think they'll do everything you are after bar the Ebony Board - although there are one or two out there with that feature.

    They are made faultlessly with fretwork likewise.
    I'm always looking for interesting USA Hamers for sale.

    At the moment I'm looking for:

    * Hamer SS2 & T62
    * Music Man Luke 1

    Please drop me a message.

  • Always liked a Silhouette - feel like they’ve got the most comfortable neck from Music Man. Probably prioritising sevens now though… will be keeping an eye out at the Manchester Guitar Show this weekend!

    Have you seen the Carvin DC400 i’m selling? It’s not fixed bridge but it seems to tick all your other boxes and you could always block the bridge..
