Remember it well, watched the whole Wembley gig on BBC and then the Philladelphia set.

It happened a good few years before the right technology was in place to make it what it could have been, so it always seems a bit of an anticlimax when I see any of it now.

Queen, Quo and a few others were, of course, very good - now legendary performances.

But...Adam Ant? Style Council? A decidedly average Led Zeppelin?

(I DO like Adam Ant, but he's not stadium material)

My first ever day of work. Loads of the Saturday staff at the local supermarket said they weren’t going in as they wanted to watch it on TV. So they called me up.
    Karma......

I was fortunate enough to be at Live 8, many years later.

A better line-up, IMO, and better overall production values.

I won tickets to Live 8 and didn't go. Regret it.

I was 16 and was helping my uncle with his painting and decorating business. We did some work in the morning then sat in his Bedford CF van watching Live Aid on a b/w telly powered by a car battery. I remember it being a very big occasion.

I was at uni at the time and a lot of the bands were of that time too.
I don't recall George Harrison being knighted for the Bangladesh predecessor.

Yeah, @MtB just edit the title.

It freaked me out a bit, because I knew I'd started work that year and I haven't done 40 years yet...

I was at Live8 too. Plenty of meh in the afternoon but the highlights were great.

I’m not even a big fan but the only time all 4 Pink Floyd’s played together in my lifetime? Yes please :)

Watch it again a few years back and was quite surprised how average (or below) a lot of the performances were. And equally surprised that after Queen, the best band performance was from Spandau Ballet.

It was so wonderfully of its time. Remember well watching it all as a 16 year old in my bedroom with the rest of my band ‘knowing’ it would be us up there soon enough.

I watched live all the UK and most of the US coverage. Apart from the obvious stand out performances, and not so good ones, I liked Elvis Costello doing All You Need Is Love.

He was brilliant, loved the little reminders for the lyrics he had written on his hand.

Even at the time it was known that each act would barely have 20 minutes of performance time, with no proper sound check etc, and the the show had been put together very quickly.. It was amazing that they sounded even as good as they did.

I was 17, working that day in a Saturday job. I watched lots of it when I got home, but can't pretend that I ever watched it all. I remember that my friends and I thought the US line-up was dire, full of ancient acts and ones we'd never heard of. Looking at it now I wasn't too wrong. :D

Didn't he mine to Apollo 9 and that's all he did?
