What's Hot
Slowly getting to grips with Reaper and learning about DAW use etc.
one issue I have is that I have recorded 6 tracks, to mix down. So far every time I try to export it to listen elsewhere I cannot get it mixed down to two tracks. Also I am not sure how I download it as a Wav or mp3?
Any tips please?

You render it out to a new audio file, it’s an option in the first menu if I recall correctly.

    File > Render

In the Render dialog box you get options including what to render (eg time selection), in what format (wav, mp3 etc), and where to (folder destination).

I'm learning Reaper too. Kenny Gioia's videos are really helpful for all sorts of things:

    Yes they are

    although he does pause

after every 3 or 4 words

    which can be

    kind of annoying.

Yeah, but he makes up for it by talking very, very fast between those pauses.

So highlight the tracks you want to render by holding control and clicking on each track so they are highlighted/turn white, then click on file and render. Select at the top to render where it says "Source" you click that and select "Selected tracks via master".

Then at the bottom of the box you have which file type to render to. Then click render.

It's more aimed at existing reaper users but I really like the guy from the Reaper Blog a fair bit more than Kenny Gioia.

  • lost all my effects on reaper apart from Ace Tweed VST, all seem to be there but can no longer add them to a track. Tell me i've done something stupid but easy to reverse?

Can you post screenshots of what happens when you open the effects dialog box?

  • Thanks Keefy, will do tomorrow. Basically call up FX they all seem to be there but cannot add them. I can click on delay or compression but when you press add nothing happens.

    Don't panic.

If you can't figure it out step away from it for a bit.

Can you not check the last things you did, and undo?

I very much recommended the Adam at Hop Pole studios primer on YouTube. I still go back to it now occasionally. He goes through some cool stuff like effect routing as well as the out of the box stuff. Between him and Kenny I think you'll get most of what you need.
