Hi,

I've been looking at places to trade some guitars and Sell Us Your Guitar came up. Online reviews look good. Has anyone had any experiences here with them?

Thanks in advance!

  • I've done a trade with them once before. No complaints at all. The price they offered was fair, the communication back with the team there was very good, and the box/packaging they sent, plus the instructions for safe packaging, were all top notch.

Would happily use them again in future.

  • I’ve bought a strat off them in the past & it was brilliant & set up really well
Not had experience selling to them though

Sold a few guitars to them, prices met or beat what other stores offered and for reference I got valuations from: Coda, Guitar Guitar, Andertons, Richtone Music and PMT. Process was very straightforward and the packaging they send you is decent.

If you get them to price match they will only do it vs straight sales so you can't use an Andertons trade in price when asking for cash which is fair enough

I've bought from them recently; no issues.

  • Slightly different, but they’re selling a guitar for me on commission at the moment. Communication is very good, pricing clearly explained, and the packing materials they supplied to send the guitar to them were excellent.

  • Yep, traded. Guitar I got is great and as described, and fair price for the trade in. Would definitely use them again.

  • I've used them once - sold them a guitar that, while not vintage, was a fairly rare model. I had a price in mind that I thought was fair and I wouldn't budge from. Initially, they offered me less than that value, so I politely declined and gave them the figure I wanted, happy to walk away if they wouldn't meet it. They agreed to my asking price and the deal was done.

Communication was great and payment was made immediately after they received the guitar. The price they paid me for it was higher than the two guitar shops I tried too.

I had some reservations about selling the guitar this way - I much prefer face to face transactions - but it was a pretty faultless experience. I'd certainly use them again.

  • I've used them, no issues. You'll never get a fortune in trade but found them fair enough and easy to deal with

Excellent, thanks everyone. Seems like The Fretboard experiences match up with the online reviews - good to hear.

  • I used them just this last week or so. Packaging arrived Friday. Collected yesterday. Paid out this afternoon.

Prices weren’t at the prices I listed on here, which to me were fair, but I got rid of three guitars, four of five pedals, and boosted my current account with no eBay nonsense, etc.

Happy. I think they’re perfect for sub-£1k gear. They offer commission for more expensive kit.

I think TheFretboard should have its own raffle thing going for guitars which have been stuck in the classifieds for too long.

Thought I'd follow up with my experiences now, having been persuaded by comments here and reviews elsewhere to, well, sell them my guitar.

Honestly, a really good experience. Communications were very good and replies prompt; prices were fair, especially considering they also need to turn a profit. Packaging was good and payment was prompt.

    I would happily recommend them.

Only time I dealt with 'em, I got 250 quid for a guitar I bought from them a few months before for 400, so didn't think it particularly brilliant a deal, considering they'd already made a decent profit on it the first time, just my tuppence worth

Happy to recommend them on the basis of a trip there today for a part exchange. The deal was fair, not brilliant, and not taking the piss. I got a good deal on the Epi Les Paul I wanted (I'll do a NGD post in a bit), and a reasonable return on my investment on a Gordon Smith Classic T I bought new several years ago. The quoting process was straightforward, and there was no quibbling about anything.

The tech, Alex, was very helpful, and happy to redo the setup with the strings of my choice.

Overall, well worth the 7 hour round trip from darn sarf.

It's an aladdins cave in there !

    This one goes to eleven

^^ Wow, for some reason I didn't imagine they'd have such big physical premises.

  • I called in about a month ago and was very impressed. Lots of stock, staff very friendly and they basically said try whatever you want.
My son ended up buying a 12 string for a decent price.
