Have they got any 8 strings in? Searching on the site brings up 38 pages but I can only see a Jackson that’s actually got 8 strings.
You’ve discovered their only negative for me, the search function on the website is quite random. Case in point, search ‘Telecaster’ and get, amongst the Teles, a Music Man Sterling, a Mesa 4x12 100W stack and a Wolfgang Huttl Archtop !  As I say, random  =)

I wonder if some guitars they just don't want to try and sell...?

I had a limited edition ES-335 surplus to requirements so got quotes from SUYG and Fat Bottom to see where I would stand. The quote back from SUYG was £1100 LESS than the quote from Fat Bottom.

It was a simple choice for who to sell to in that case.

I think they have had a lot of interest in trade ins so may have become more selective - perhaps if they have multiple of a model or similar. I think they added a note to their trade in page to that effect.

Replying to OP, my experience with them has been consistently excellent. Obviously it doesn't match private sale value - they need to make a profit - but they are fair, straightforward, provide good packaging, and pay out quickly. The only downside as mentioned before is Parcelforce.

No experience with these guys but the impression I get is that there are far more guitars on the used market than there are buyers at the moment. Bad time to choose to sell if you don’t really need to imo.

I had a guitar with them on commission sale for a time. I eventually ended up getting it back to trade in on a Custom Shop Strat with different dealer, but SUYG’s efforts to get it sold, as well as their communications and professionalism, were top notch.

  • I think I posted this in another thread, but the two Stingrays pictured here were from Sell Us Your Guitar. I've played a gig tonight with the 4 string that I bought from the a week or so ago and it was fantastic!

  • Only thing stopping me from selling 3 guitars to them is the thought of having to climb up into the loft to get the cases down. Getting too old for that shit.

Well I’m quite impressed with myself. Made it up into the loft after only 5 days of procrastination! I’ve convinced myself it’s probably less stressful to just drive the 3ish hours to them with 3 guitars than it is to have to package them all up and worry about delivery. Probably another week’s procrastination about when to actually go…

@matt_sefton ;Oh, I can so recognise myself in this post.  Except I don't have a loft, or a car.  What's the PRS, Silver Sky?

  • Well, I've had a previous good experience a few years ago and this thread has now inspired me to use them again. Agreement to sell a guitar to them signed this morning.  :)
Well, that was incredibly efficient and pain free! Postage materials arrived Tuesday, courier collected yesterday lunchtime, arrived at SUYG this morning, money transferred pretty much instantly, and guitar already up on their website available to buy.

Impressive stuff, wouldn't hesitate to use again!

  • Another satisfied customer. I finally kicked myself up the arse and sent 3 guitars to them to quote on last Friday. I got the quote back a day or so later and it was pretty much spot on what I thought it would be. Very fair prices. I agreed the sale and today I drove the 143 miles to Manchester to drop the guitars off. Found the place easily and it’s real aladdin’s cave of gear. I had a good look around while they thoroughly checked over my guitars. I tried a Knaggs Severn and a couple of Fender Custom Shops they had but nothing really floated my boat. They’ve got a really great selection of pedals and some cracking amps too, Soldano, Mesa, Marshall etc. There were no issues with the guitars so they paid me by bank transfer there and then. Really easy, stress free transaction. We had a brief chat about tFB and this thread and they said they were following it and were really pleased all the comments were positive. I was back home to walk the dog by 4pm and at 5pm I started looking at a guitar to buy with the money I made :-)

    My trading feedback

is it crazy how saying sentences backwards creates backwards sentences saying how crazy it is?

Positive experience on a part exchange.

Fair cash price (that, as they said, was just about two thirds of what they listed it at after I traded it in).

Good part exchange price with a small balance to pay on a new to me guitar.

    Clear communication. Friendly staff.

Swift check over what I was trading in. Quick chat about what I wanted setup and string wise on the guitar I was buying. Happy for me to try out anything in the shop.

Definitely would use again. Shop was well worth a visit.

Used them recently selling stuff.  Not great prices but more than others where offering me via eBay and here.
They kept their word and I was paid wha to was quoted only a few hours after the guitars where delivered.
Sent me the boxes and packaging and arrange collection.
    All went super smooth.

I recently sold my PRS SE acoustic to them — great cash offer, paid promptly.
My opinions in context: I rarely gig and don't play guitar for a living. I record my own music for a non-profit org's research and education videos. I have modified or built most of my equipment and I owe a big debt of gratitude to many people on this forum (you know who you are!).

Forgot to mention that Parcelfarce missed their collection date so I had a big box lying around during the Christmas break. That and their stupid 8am to 7pm slots… makes Evri look good!

This is all good to hear! I work in Ashton and pass the shop (which I've never seen open, I assume it's by appointment only). There's also a very good independent guitar shop with a little cafe around the corner too. Ashton is well provided for on the guitar front it seems!

Happy to offer a section of my lunch hour to check something out for another fretboarder who lives further afield. Hit me up.

I bought a Gibson Les Paul Custom 68 reissue from them about three years ago - inheritance money, dream guitar, etc, etc - and it arrived practically mint, got it for a decent price.

Just sold a guitar to them over the Christmas/ New Year period and it was a pretty quick and smooth transaction all told. The valuation of the guitar was OK and the money was in my bank account in no time once they had received the guitar.

The shop on the corner in the town centre has never been open, despite being branded up with all the signage. They're in an old mill off Stockport Road now. I believe they are open to browse.

Dangerous to know you're just down the road now when I see your for sale posts!

Steve Gibson (Gibson Music) is there in the town centre though. He's a good guy with some interesting stock last time I was in.
