Amp light bulb blown - led replacement?

My lamp on the Princeton clone has just gone out. No problem replacing if obviously but is there any reason I can’t fit an equivalent led version? There’s a few out there that match at 6.3v but most are automotive I thin

ICBM I believe advocates fitting a 12V incandescent auto lamp. They are quite bright enough and last forever.
Back in the day, Radiospares used to supply "6 to 8V" lamps for the 'dial lamps' in valve radios. Again, more than bright enough but lasted years.

Hah, Leds for modern tones then?  =)
I wasn't worried about brightness (I've got a fender reflecting pool with leds you can see from space) more a longevity and whatnot. I've probably got a 12v auto lamp somewhere (in one of those little bulb kits)

You can fit an LED, but it needs to be one with AC voltage protection or it will die quickly.

A 12V/4W rear lamp/number plate lamp is easier.

    Why wouldn't you?  =)
If I could and it would work why not?

Sorry that seems a bit confrontational, what I meant is I like to try things out , a little experiment here and there make my world go round a little better. Even if it doesn’t work out I enjoy the process as much as the result.
It’s all good fun and a learning opportunity, luckily for everyone there a many knowledgeable people on here willing to suffer my idiotic questions, for which I am eternally grateful

No worries, long as you got'em!

  • @spev11 I couldn’t physically get the LED under the jewel deflector of my Swart (which looks like the Fender lamp). A friend had some spare 6.3v 150ma lamps so I chose to abandon the LED idea.

Ah, balls to that then, I’ll nick a bulb from the vaporiser light indicator for now

I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s an LED! A lot of modern Fenders have them.
