Tube Screamer with less gain / Klon with less bass?

What's Hot

Tried a Tube Screamer mini, but even on minimum, it's got too much gain for what I want. Are they all like that?
Love my RYRA Klone, but when playing on my ES335 neck pickup is doesn't cut enough bass. Are all Klones like this?

So I'm after a really low gain drive pedal that boosts mids and cuts bass. Any recommendations?
Maybe I should just get an EQ pedal instead. Hmmm

Edit: Ideally need a mini pedal

It sounds like something such as the TC Electronic Spark Boost (full size) would probably work for you. Boost and eq in one

    How about a Nordland ODRCC+

Small footprint, can run on low gain but can also cut the compression of the drive. Has a mid knob and bass knob, as well as the usual spectrum knob.

@ThorpyFX ; Electric Lightning. It does exactly this. I use it with my 335 regularly. The gain is very flexible.

Great shout thanks, as it has a mids mode I see. Could do with a mini pedal though.

Interesting thanks. I do love an ODR1. The gold anniversary is my usual low gainer for bridge pup.

Trust you to come up with the most expensive option! It does sound great. I don't really like boosts before drive though....and that eye-watering price!!!

    Haha

Doesn't the EP Booster boost every frequency? I need to cut bass and boost mids.

Nope- dip switches inside to change eq

Looks like Thorpy Peacekeeper or something like an Earthquaker Tone Job might be good too.

Just gain and highs by the look of it. No bass or mids.

    Treble booster?

  • Another vote for the full size Spark Booster. It has a three way switch which includes a mid-boost option plus active bass and treble controls. Engage the mid-boost and roll the bass back a bit and you're there. It's just about my favourite pedal.

Paul C Audio  Zefram or Thorpy Team Medic should both solve your conundrum. On a tighter budget and doing the smaller footprint thing, the MXR Timmy or Lil Rat are great for trimming the bass while giving the kids a kick. Paul C Zefram is brilliant though.

There are tube screamers with mix controls - Sparkle Drive and the Jam ones come to mind

Origin Halcyon Green should be right up your street for the TS thing clean blend works like magic and the Adapt modes are lovely for adding back a hint of dynamics

I like their Gold one as well but it's not less bassy than a normal Klon. Tumnus is probably a good bet there, what with its TMB tone stack?

Neither are mine, but both have top jacks, so don't take up too much space

I like the Wampler Belle, which is based on a Nobels ODR-1 but 'addresses' the issues with it i.e. bass heavy etc and it's really good and you have a lot of control over it and a great gain range

Xotic Super Sweet/Clean and the Wampler Moxie are worth investigating in addition to the suggestions already made, and both meet the mini pedal brief.
