It can of course be a valid type of argument.
If I was, hypothetically, debating something with someone...let's call them..."King_awesome"...and King_awesome said that we should all be really stressed out about American politics, say. If I was to reply with "yes, but you're the guy that worries that nazis Germany might suddenly rise again out of the blue!" , I think that would be valid, as it shows that K_a is possibly a bit hard of thinking.

I honestly don't know why my career as a writer never took off.
Constructive criticism and writing as a professional public speaker: that is indicative of the worst kind of advertising spiel using big words to brag about a vocabulary rather than saying anything in a way that engages the reader / listener.
Make your point in as few words as possible and always pick the simplest word that does the job for maximum engagement and understanding.
