A truly phenomenal percussionist and composer, part of Shakti for a while and worked with many other musicians over the years including John McLaughlin, Van Morrison and George Harrison. I saw him play several times, including at the Festival Hall gig that was recorded for the John McLaughlin Trio live album, he was truly mesmerising to listen to and watch. 

RIP.

Very, very sad event. I echo Boogieman's tribute - a hugely important, creative voice in music composition and performance. Will be hugely missed. The world is a lesser place for his passing.
