I had a chemistry teacher who went to school with one of the 4. Can't recall if it was Philby or Burgess but I do recall the teacher saying the guy had always been a poisonous little s%^t.

He tried to obtain the manuscript prior to publication of The Climate of Treason: Five Who Spied For Russia and the book's editor refused (Blunt was represented in the book as Maurice) . This was reported in Private Eye and eventually led to Margaret Thatcher naming Blunt in the Commons...
