Found any amusing very early videos of famous bands?

I was amused to see this video, Slade's first ever TV performance. A distinct lack of hair all around! (Which I did know about). It's a Beatles cover, and nothing like the identity they went on to create.

The last shot is of Dave Hill, looking about 15 and all ears!

Anyone else found any amusing old vids???

I saw this one on Facebook a few times and it's quite fun, it's MGMT's excellent song Kids about 4 years or so before being released, their stage persona appears to be that of 15 year old music tech students performing at school

  • There's a band I used to like called Hed Pe.
Their lead singer has this tough guy, LA gangster persona that was prevalent in the 90s nu metal era.  This is him:

And this was him in the 80s during the disco era =)

Green Day playing their local High School playground in 1990.
It's basically all there in basic form of what they will become. Note the scrappy pentatonic solo from Billie Joe Armstrong around the 2 minute mark.

Hah! That Roland Orzabal thing is amazing! Never seen that before! Was that Curt on bass? I couldn't quite make it out and he didn't seem to get any close-ups.

Led Zeppelin doing a TV promo in Paris in 1969, being Maximum Led Zeppelin in front of a clearly horrified audience of mums and tots.

I've searched so intently for any actual live footage of this, but I can't unfortunately so I'll just post a video featuring the audio and slide show including photos of the man himself. This is the great bluesman pretend hobo Seasick Steve in his former life, still named Steve Leach in the disco soul band Crystal Grass..

Early Manic Street Preachers video. James Dean Bradfield acts a bit odd in this one.

The guitarist of The Valentines is a regular contributor to the Gretsch Talk forum. He has a lot of interesting insights into the Aussie music scene over the years.
