Synth kits?

What's Hot
Does anybody know if there are any type of diy synth kits on the market similar to the old powertran transcendant 2000?

Fully analogue and knobby? Only modular, these days, I think.

If you don't mind going digital and programming, then a £30 Daisy Seed can do some very impressive things.

(And if you don't like the synth, you can turn it into a neural amp modeller or FX pedal for free.)

Well, similar to the powertran with a keyboard

There was the korg ms20 kit around 10 yrs ago, but not cheap I don't think.

Looks like the odyssey kit below is currently available but again not a price I'd pay in comparison to other pre-assembled options personally. Also not sure how DIY these really are - YouTube prob shows what's actually involved I guess:

    ^ Good shouts.

IIRC the original Deckards Dream was also first available as a DIY effort, but that was at the other end of the price range.

For low-cost-of-entry, and more "sweat equity", I think Eurorack and joining the DIY section of modwiggler are probably the best way.

... similar to the old powertran transcendant 2000?
Similar in the sense of being a kit with instructions that a hobbyist electrician ought to be able to follow

    OR

in the sense of producing sounds similar to the venerable Transcendent 2000?
You say, atom bomb. I say, tin of corned beef.

    Both tbh.
I’m fairly competent with a soldering iron as i build pedal kits etc, but i fancy the idea of building a synth , and i’m a bit of a Joy Division fan tbh.
But if no kits available, suggestions for something with similar sounds i guess

Waldorf KB37 + Behringer modules (Roland 500 clones, I think?)

I remember the Transcendent, but not sure of its sonic signature - was it using CEM chips? (I bought and built the PowerTran DDL at around that time.)
