Hi there,

I have 10 pedals on a Pedaltrain Metro 24 (so need something slim) and just wondered what power supply options I might have. I’ve found a few that will fit but none that power 10 pedals. Any advice or recommendations would be appreciated!

Try 1 into 2 power cables. I run 8 pedals with a T-Rex Fuel Tank Junior which has 5 isolated power outlets.

A lot of them will power 10 pedals, but not all isolated.

I don’t think it’ll fit under a Pedaltrain Metro, need something quite slim.

Could use the Cioks 7 with that method I guess. Which type of pedals are best to couple together?

The strymon Zuma isnt cheap but its good. You can then expand it with an Ojai or two. But no doubt there are cheaper options these days with just as many outlets.

Useful thread since I've been looking myself. The above all look very good with quiet operation as a feature.

The way I'm thinking is that pedals typically take power from either a small internal battery or external supply. The battery provides beautifully clean DC power, and as we all found out, most small AC adapters produce considerable distortion, which at this point is not allowed.

I'd like a pedal array to have power supplied directly from a large battery. That way the noisy AC does the charging and the quiet battery DC does the audio. Simple solution would be a camping power block. I could also run an amplifier, and make tea.

I'm not sure if I've explained my concept very well but does it bring any products to mind, or should I be looking for venture capitalists to invest in my new product?
    I like your version best.

I looked into the same thing and bought a Cioks DC7  has loads more power than you need (lots of 10 outlet supplies have a few 100ma, the cioks is all 500ma) and has splitter cables included.

Cioks DC7 is the nuts, plus you can add Cioks expanders as needed later.

I have a couple of Zumas and Truetone CS6s, and recently got a Fender LVL5 for my desk. All are great.

Cioks make good kit but I don't like that they use a different plug rather than just using the 2.1mm at both ends.

Also don't be afraid of daisychaining analog dirts, tuners, etc. 99% of the time you can do this for 3-4 pedals on a board without introducing serious noise.

I've got a Yuer PR-02 on a small pedalboard -  only 7 outlets but it is slim at 16.6mm, and fits neatly underneath my Pedaltrain Nano+ ,  even with Velcro mounting tape it sits within the depth of the frame itself.   It seemed to be the only rechargeable battery supply out there that was so thin. D'Adario have their new XPND rechargeable battery supply, but it is expensive.

Again won’t fit under the metro.

I put taller feet on my metro 20 to fit a Trex junior underneath works a treat and reasonably easy to do.

  • I'm really happy with the Cioks DC7. I ran it with a Cioks 4 expander on a bigger board. Recently downsized to a Metro 20 and the DC7 fits underneath without any problems (using the Cioks bracket).

Thats how they get you, my first PSU was a Cioks Pussy Power and to be able to use the same cables for the next build, convenience, I bought another 2 Cioks.

There is a reason why so many pro guitarists use Voodoo labs. I would say try to get one of them. It might cost a little more than some of the other options, but they are quality.

  • When I did run a pedalboard (and it wasn't very many pedals) I used the T-Rex Fuel Tank Junior. The main (blue) one powers 10 I think or one of the other ones. Very solid pieces of kit and never had any power issues. I still use it sometimes at home when dabbling with analogue pedals and stuff, still works great 15 years on. Get the best you can afford, don't scrimp on power supply.
