Custom Stage LED

Hey all,

Any recommendations for where I can buy a custom LED sign for my band to display on stage?

I’d be looking for it to have a stand so that it can sit on top of an amp, or be in some sort of box form like those light boxes that were all the rage for 10 mins

    B&Q?
Not so sure? I have the design I want to be created, and B&Q in my area definitely can’t make me an LED stage light

I was actually suggesting you buy the parts and break out the toolbox. A friend of mine has a little box much like you describe (unless I’m mis-visualising your concept) which she put together with some kind of “garden light” string of bulbs.

Utterly kitsch but very effective for a few pounds and certainly much cheaper than getting someone else to do it not quite right.

I’m pretty sure she also uses the box to carry a few stage accessories, clever girl.

Did you see someone was doing cabs with LED screens on the front? I forget who it was now but they were reassuringly expensive, if probably rather fun if you had more than a couple of them!

I’m looking to get this made, with pink neon border (minus the years) so that it can sit on top of my amp

What about a light box? Back and sides can be made of plywood or cardboard, white inside, with lights about the edges. The front could be clear acrylic. Print the letters reversed on to paper, cover the other side with double sided tape. (I find this easier to work with than glue). Cut out the letters with scissors or craft knife, and stick them on the back of the acrylic. Paint the back of acrylic with several costs of black. After it dries remove the paper letters to let the light through.

I’ve done something similar using a scroll saw to cut the letters out of plywood.
