Preamp for K&K pickup

What's Hot
Morning all,

So off the back of my last discussion, I have come to the conclusion that I clearly need a good acoustic guitar preamp for this K&K. The one that came with the pickups, not having easy-to-access EQ controls, or anything else but two volumes, is clearly not quite cutting it.
Trick is that I need something with the right input impedance and something that will power the microphone, and which is battery powered.
Of those 3 requirements, powering the microphone is the one I'd compromise on the most but damn it sounds good when I can actually bring it in, so I'd rather not.
I've heard mention of Headway, Sunaudio and Grace Design, but know nothing of them and availability in this part of the world seems limited. I also don't know if they'll power the microphone.

Any suggestions gratefully received.

Matt

I asked a similar question recently. Might be of some help: https://thefretboard.co.uk/discussion/277320/simple-acoustic-preamp-pedal-with-tuner#latest

I had a K&K preamp and was not impressed. Cheaply built, a pretty nominal range of tnes and not big enough to put ion the floor and to big to mount on my belt.

I weasled out and rescued my LR Baggs Acoustic DI and couldn't be happier. Maybe you will have better luck?

Headway are a UK company, if that's where you are. Their EDB-2 has 2 channels and options for powering electret mics, so that might do the job. There's the EBS Stanley Clarke preamp too, easy to overlook since it has a bass player's name on it, but it's actually a very full featured preamp for working with acoustic instruments. Neither is cheap, but I guess it's quite a specialised set of requirements.
