Laney LC or even better VC 15, outstanding wee amps that can get loud if needed.
@lovestrat74 has one going for silly cheap, not a million miles from the OP.

I do? I mean, I do!! Yes still here. The clean chanel is where the "music" is at on this amp too. The drive is decent, but I'd always go through the clean chanel then add an AM sound - have one of those too, but not for sale ;)
Thanks, but I think I want something more compact.
A guitar doesn't care how good you are, all it asks for is it's played.

Same answer I always give to practice amp questions, get a used THR5, you won’t bother with the pedal.  Sounds great whisper quiet and can get quite loud.  The clean setting and the hall reverb are top notch.
There’s a THR5A come up for sale near me at a good price. I appreciate that it’s meant for acoustics but what will an electric sound like through it bearing in mind I’m looking for clean tones and could, presumably, use my American Sound or a drive pedal if needed.

To answer my own question I think it’s a no; a quick search brought up too many compromises even for my basic needs.

Just managed to find a used THR10 which should hopefully be with me before the weekend.

Thanks for all the suggestions, much appreciated.

Maybe a bit late to the party - a 90's Fender solid state amp like the Princeton or Deluxe 112.

Awesome clean sounds and they look awesome too

Assuming the job involves demolishing a wall :)

One day I'm going to make a guitar out of butter to experience just how well it actually plays.

Well it arrived a couple of hours ago and does everything I want of it. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for something similar.
