Had a Strat and Tele in it. Both stunning in the flesh with maple necks but it photos really weirdly.

I like the colours that fade/change to other colours so you can see bits of both, Maui blue and Daphne blue start to go green as they fade or oly white as it yellows.

I’m also a sucker for really faded pastels, sonic blue, Tahitian coral and the like.

Or black ifs reliced with a tort pickguard.

This, the Miami Blue with the mint green pickguard, as on the Am Pro II series, is just FANTASTIC!  :3

I like a slightly beaten up three tone sunburst with a rosewood board.
    Or Fiesta red.
    Or Burgundy Mist.

Tbh there aren’t many colours I don’t like.  I can even appreciate the Antigua.  I think this translates as, I like Strats!

    Shell Pink
    Sea Foam Green
    Sonic Blue
    Oly White

    All the pastel shades.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

I much prefer the 50s aesthetics when I comes to Strats.  Maple board, single ply 8 hole guard etc.

Looks cleaner and more elegant than the 60s look for me

  • I don't think they ever improved on the original - has to be sunburst with maple board.

If I had a back up choice it would be more of a 60s design - surf green with a rosewood board.

In order of my own preference:

    Olympic white
    Sunburst
    Black
    Shoreline gold
    Shell pink
    Daphne blue

Though to be fair I've always seen the Strat as the ultimate beautiful supermodel ... looks good in anything. Well apart from that disgusting faded Malteser brown with a black guard and black pickup covers they did in the 70s.

I've got a selection of Strats and can't say I'd particularly thought about their colours until this thread; based on that I guess I have no preference.
(So long as it's not fake "road-worn".)

    In no particular order:

Natural ash with black guard and R/W board
Vintage white (do they even do that colour any more - used to be a thing but haven't seen it for years?)
    Two tone tobacco burst
    Sea foam green
    Surf green
    Candy apple red
    Black
    Lake Placid blue

Basically, money no object, I think I'd have to have one in every colour ;)

Caribbean Mist. I have a WTB advert for one in fact!

I also like all the metallic colours from the late 80s/early 90s.

Also a big fan of the 50s maple board, sunburst, single ply.

Maple fretboard is the correct fretboard for me. Anything else feels wrong. Odd I know.

I like all the early custom colours except black.  Particularly keen on Shoreline gold.

I bought these 60's Strats for the colour only.  ;)

Classic 60's Cerulean blue FSR and  Vintera Modified in Burgundy mist.

I don't like most of the 50s pastel colours - surf green / daphne blue etc. Too "nice" to be rock'n'roll.

My favourites would be Olympic White (Rosewood), 3TS (RW), Fiesta Red with Mint Green guard (Rw). For maple boards, 2TS, Olympic White (with Tort guard) and Black.

    Traditionalist? Moi?
