Also, feel free to comment on how you approached the solo, which will add a bit more interest and maybe we can learn something from each other.

There should be headroom to record your solo. Try to set a level without excessive master limiting, because we want to avoid loudness wars.

Voting will start soon after the submission deadline, with each voter selecting their 1st, 2nd and 3rd choice.

First choice gets 5 points - Second choice gets 3 points - Third choice gets 1 point

The order and scores of the top three entries will be announced soon after the voting ends.

No prizes. It's just for fun.

After a long dry spell I got my mojo back and sent one in

First off, great backing track @fastonebaz ; love it

A single take after about 30 attempts to get something coherent. The main jist of it seemed to emerge quickly, after that it was a case of getting a decent performance before my fingertips started bleeding. Now where did I put the surgical spirit again ?

Strat neck > Love Squeeze > Aquavibe > Electric Lightning (boost side only) > TD-Y > Secret Preamp > Valvepower 18w > Ox (some compression and delay)

Sent one in. However, it might be a rule breaker but I didn't see anything in the rules that said it had to be a solo played on guitar. If it breaks the rules so be it and can be discounted lol.

Nothing in the rules to say it has to be guitar. Let the voters decide.

However, if you got Jan Hammer to play the solo for you, then you'd better come clean now

Lol, no but he is one of my musical influences Keyboard is my first instrument and thought I would have a go at  adding something different and possibly not done before on FB being primarily a guitarist's forum
