I think that's a pretty good price for a top quality handwired valve amp built by a reputable UK amp builder.

To be honest, I think this Matchless is a bit wasted on me  . It really is a top quality amp.
I'd probably be keeping it if I didn't have my recently acquired '70's AC30.

From memory I'd say the Matchless has more character, an older, more authentic sound to it, making the Badcat in comparison sound a little lifeless/bland. Which of course it's not, but that's probably the easiest way to put it.
   The Matchless bass and treble do a great job of shaping the EQ.
   The Matchless is also lighter.
   The Badcat is a great amp, but the Matchless is definitely better.
