You set the bass at 10 oclock the treble at 2 oclock and adjust the volume and gain to taste . No matter what guitar you plug into it you can dial in the sound by nudging treble and bass a few degrees either way and it sounds great.
I found with the Bad Cat you had to play around with the knobs a fair bit to get the sound in your head but they were pretty much all there albeit it having slightly less whomp than the Matchless
