Been listening to Are You Experienced this week…my god, it must have been exciting to be in the studio when that music was being created for the first time.

So…what’s your favourite underrated / overlooked Jimi song?

im going with May This Be Love.

Not sure how to determine underrated - But you don't hear The Wind Cries Mary played to often and I love the tone on that track as well

    I quite like ‘Earth Blues’.

    House Burning Down, for one..

It may be underrated by others, but not by me. The tango rhythm, surreal lyric, vocal delivery, and that through-zero flanging on the sublime leads.
    This one goes to eleven

you don't hear the studio version of The Star Spangled Banner much, but it's an insight in to a whole other side of Hendrix that you don't really expect. Multitracked, speeded-up and slowed-down guitar parts, all very carefully orchestrated. It's like Brian May before Brian May. I wonder if Brian heard it.

Don't talk politics and don't throw stones. Your royal highnesses.

Beat me to it. There are various versions tucked away on the many posthumous albums. I really like the studio version on First Rays of the New Rising Sun (1997), complete with Jimi asking, ‘Is the mic on?’

Favourite recording is probably born under a bad sign but it's not his song.

That would be my choice too, but as that's been taken I'd go for "Third Stone from the Sun". Partly for nostalgia as, with hindsight it was the first Hendrix song I heard as it used to get played on BFBS when I was young.
A guitar doesn't care how good you are, all it asks for is it's played.

Izabella, Fire, Drifting, Bold As Love... they're just so many and not a dud amongst them. I'm not sure I'd even be able to tell, there's something interesting on every track. imo, of course.

Castles Made Of Sand, Wait Until Tomorrow, Long Hot Summer Night, The Stars That Play With Laughing Sam's Dice.. the list is endless as the bar is so high (basically what @GoFish said).

In no way is it underrated but as it’s not really one of the hits I’ll mention it. Little Wing for me is what made me sit up and say, wow… this guy can play!!

The Burning of the Midnight Lamp. I had access to the single as a kid when the only other Hendrix I’d heard were the big hits like Hey Joe and Purple Haze. I couldn’t get enough of it and I still feel the same on the rare occasions I hear it.

The intro to Killing Floor from Monterey, and the rest of the song isn't bad, either.

The Wind Cries Mary is amazing when you think it was recorded in 20 minutes left over at the end of a session.

You've got 4 of the very best there. Long Hot Summer Night may be my favourite Jimi overall, just for the memories and positive vibes.
