I quite like Ezy Rider. It's a bit of a throwaway and the lyrics are gash, but the energy and riffing are superb.

Which version, I’m sure there’s a tab book with about 12 different versions of his notated out.

Yes Driving South for me too.. incredible playing.

I was going to suggest Who Knows for being a less heralded song than Machine Gun on Band of Gypsies, but Who Knows has more plays on Spotify, so maybe it isn’t.

The intro to this one is beautiful, and easy to play.

Long Hot Summer Night is a favourite of mine as well.

I can't help about the shape I'm in, I can't sing I ain't pretty and my legs are thin

But don't ask me what I think of you, I might not give the answer that you want me to

Inspired by this thread, I listened to a truckload of early Jimi on the way home. Highway Chile, I'd forgotten about and Stone Free is astonishing imo.

Fire is my favourite under-rated Jimi tune….it’s not too tricky to play either

I'm bit of a hendrix nut, been a fan since I was about 15 (about '88). All the great underrated track have been mentioned:
    Wind Cry's Mary
    51st anniversary
    3rd stone from the sun

    I would add:
All around the watchtower (ok dylan song and maybe not underrated), but
Fire, which is a great song to play live
    Are you experienced, and
If 6 was 9 (but the whole of axis bold of love is one of my fav albums

Spanish Castle Magic took on special significance when I found out that the Spanish Castle was a venue / club / hang out just outside Seattle from surf music days all the way to much trippier happenings. I guess it's meant to be a little toungue-in-cheek salute, and a bit autobiographical.
Ten years too late and still getting it wrong

I was literally going to ban this one as it always comes up in these conversations offline. I can’t tell you how much I love that track.

The older I get, the more I appreciate Hendrix. There’s never been anyone who portrays beauty and chaos so seamlessly. People try and rate him as a guitar player - he was just an incredible musician.

Castles Made Of Sand, Wait Until Tomorrow, Long Hot Summer Night, The Stars That Play With Laughing Sam's Dice.. the list is endless as the bar is so high (basically what @GoFish said).

I actually like the hendrix 'groove'. A sampled hendrix with dance beat should not work, but bizarrely it does. If you get a chance to have listen, check out Beautiful People's 'If the 60's were the 90's' album:

The intro to Killing Floor from Monterey, and the rest of the song isn't bad, either.

The Wind Cries Mary is amazing when you think it was recorded in 20 minutes left over at the end of a session.
Great call. This is superb playing on every level.

For my own contribution, I'd say the first version on Electric Ladyland of Voodoo Chile- i.e the one with Winwood on keys and Jack Cassady on bass. One of the all-time great 'live in the studio' recordings. Also possibly the greatest jam-track of all time, and also featuring mucho Strat front pickup goodness.

I've still got that CD somewhere.. the Rilly Groovy single as well. It shouldn't work but it really does.

Highway Chile is a good one. Castles Made of Sand. I had a period as a teenager when I was really into Hendrix, I used to have some good live versions on cassette but god knows where they went.
