Sad to hear this news coming through, a fellow Welshman too.

Worked hard over the years both musically and physically with his long standing battle with Cancer.

Gone at 66.....sad

The second band I saw live, and I still have a soft spot for the Change album.
Always came across as a really sweet guy, too.

He faced his illness with strength and dignity, I thought. Inspirational stuff.

    RIP Mike.

I actually let out an audible sigh of disappointment when I saw the news. He seemed like a lovely chap, one of the good guys. RIP Mike

RIP Mike, the first band I saw live in 1985. Went through a lot of medical issues with positivity.

"In 2018, he told Guitar World magazine that his "simple message" was "to stay alive and appreciate every second you've got".

"Live right up to the last breath and stay positive about the world, your family and the environment you live in.""

Sad news - Nice chap and great front man. Saw The Alarm several times in the late 80s/early 90s.  Always a great show.

Oh my word.  I didn't even know he was ill.   That is very sad indeed.

    * EDIT - bloody lymphoma as well.  Bastard disease.  RIP.

Very sad news. He’d been fighting that disease for an unbelievably long time. Since I saw him perform at the Tivoli in Buckley last October I’ve been following Jukes’s almost daily updates on Facebook. I had noticed there had been little news over the last couple of weeks. I will blast out his Welsh version of Rockin’ In The Free World later on.

Back in the 80's The Alarm were an enthusiastic, rabble rousing breath of fresh air around the BBC charts.
He never stopped doing what he loved, despite everything. Brave man with a love of life & a sense of humour. RIP

He was a really inspirational person, I never really  got into the alarm but loved the stuff he did with coloursound, saw him a few times with dead men walking and he was brilliant.  I was really sad when I read the news, he put up one hell of a fight against cancer, God bless you Mike...

  • I’m not very familiar with The Alarm (I shall make amends) but had known about Mike the fellow Welshman for years from his fight against cancer and great charity works… such sad news

That's sad news, I wasn't aware of his long struggle with cancer although I see it's been well publicised.

A very familiar name and face, although I never followed any of his bands or solo career... with the exception of Coloursøund.  I never stray far from my hard rock and metal territory really, but I absolutely love that first Coloursøund album.

    RIP

We're having a big scooter ride out tonight to his pub in Dyserth again to leave flowers.
