About to pull the trigger on a GS Mini.

Peach are about £30 more expensive for the GS Mini Mahogany as everywhere else but have a good reputation for sending out guitars properly set up. Is this the case with acoustics and in your opinion, worth the extra over the big box sellers?

Apologies if this is a really stupid question, first acoustic in 25 years.

Coda worth a look also or don't they have the model you're after?

In my experience Peach's return policy leaves something to be desired - basically, send it back yourself, which isn't always easy with a guitar (even a small one).

the GS mini is a great guitar and I imagine fairly consistent from Taylor

I wouldn’t pay extra to have it from Peach, and I wouldn’t be certain of getting it set up if I did

I didn't even think of them for some reason, but after checking, no they don't.

Just buy it from a box shifter. You’ll know no difference, because there’ll be no difference

I wouldn’t be expecting a set up from Peach on an cheapish acoustic. I won’t go into extended online stone throwing, but like the others here my choice of store would be: Coda, Guitarguitar, Andertons (in that order).

It's a new acoustic? Don't worry too much about the setup you get when delivered, as it's going to settle down and change in the next couple of months. A Taylor factory setup surely won't be dreadful even if Andertons don't touch it.

I went to Peach to buy a GS Mini.  I picked out in advance 5 I liked the look of and when I arrived they had them all ready, tuned, on stands next to a sofa. They brought me a coffee and let me get on with it. They were all setup well, played nicely, sounded good. There was some variation in tone, feel and look but not great. I.e if I hadn’t been able to go in person I wouldn’t have been disappointed with what arrived. It just gave me a nice buying experience and I picked the one that felt, looked and sounded to me a bit better than the others.

It is absolutely bullshit. Both guitars I have had from them has needed loads of setting up. Including one that was used in a video demo so they knew it was shite.

    It's an outright lie tbh.

Any large guitar store isn't going to set up an instrument for an online order - and it won't be set up how you like it, just how whoever does the set up likes it.    I would go for whomever is cheapest and put the price difference towards the cost of a set-up by someone trusted and local to you who you can have a conversation with about what you like/don't like.

OR - find a used one and then have more funds for a better/more in-depth set up.   There's a couple of GS Minis for sale on Facebook Marketplace..

There's a high probability imho, that any Taylor will require the attention of am authorised Taylor tech sooner or later. If the action is so high that taking a mm off the saddle won't fix it, the neck shims will have to be swapped to get the right neck angle.

My PRS Tonare came with a nasty buzz from Peach. Hilariously, when I opened the box I saw not one but two checkup report cards, one from Peach, one from PRS, saying that they had checked action, frets, etc.

I guess they forgot to actually play the guitar?
My opinions in context: I rarely gig and don't play guitar for a living. I record my own music for a non-profit org's research and education videos. I have modified or built most of my equipment and I owe a big debt of gratitude to many people on this forum (you know who you are!).

Humidity has been "extreme" at both ends this year so my guess is that within a month or so from being out of the box it will swell a bit and action will go up.  At that point Taylor will fit their shims for free for a new guitar.  i know that Andertons are authorised Taylor techs so they can do that easily.   i dont know whether the others also can?

Funnily enough I was looking at a certain acoustic model this afternoon & had I decided to go ahead with it Peaches promise of it being expertly set up by their technician would have definitely sold me on it over one that was a bit cheaper. It boldly states it underneath the pic. I’d like to think they would honour that ad ,disappointing if not

Could a Plek still not be set up to how you prefer it anyhow?
