Zooming on mobile - accessibility issue

The code for the mobile site contains:

<meta name="viewport" content="width=device-width,minimum-scale=1.0,maximum-scale=1.0">

Can we remove the maximum-scale=1.0? It disallows zooming in on mobile and my ageing eyes are finding it harder and harder to use the site.

It would be good if the site was responsive then this wouldn't be a thing (assuming it worked on "desktop").

    Agree with the suggestion, but as a workaround, can you zoom the site via browser settings ? For example, in Brave browser on Android, there is a Zoom setting in the context "three dots" menu.
    This one goes to eleven

    Possibly, it's just more painful than pinching or whatever the zoom gesture is called.

    Better in one respect though; you don't end up scrolling back and forth horizontally to read a post ;)

    No, because the mobile site is irrevocably broken if that's removed.

    The new site will be (is) responsive.

    What happens to it? Removing the parameter shouldn't do much unless the user zooms in.

    On 90% of mobile browsers, the layout completely goes to shit and posts are overlaid on each other such that the entire site is unreadable. Because of the way the view code's and CSS overrides are interspersed between controllers and views, due to the fact that the original developers are complete idiots, it would take so much redevelopment to fix it that it's more sensible to just replace the whole site.

    If you're using Chrome for Android, you can force enable zoom in the Accessibility settings.  I'm sure you can do the same in other browsers.
