  • Just had another look at the song list, largely matched up with what I've been practicing.

    Few exceptions:

Ace Of Spades: not practiced. I tried it out just now, and it's well beyond my ability tempo wise :s Would be a really good one to work up to, have put on the 'To Practice' list.

    Black Dog: Not practiced, sorry.

War Pigs: Not practiced, but sounds like it could be improvised. Jam if there's time.

Efforts have been a bit hampered recently by elbow injury earlier in the month. Should be ok for tomorrow even if not 100%.

I didn't have the capacity to learn bar counts for 11 songs!! Good we've got a singer for knowing where we are

Yeah, decent earplugs have got to be one of the wisest things I've ever spent money on!

Enjoyed that, I think we did pretty much all the songs on the list, and some new additions:

    - Celebrity Skin
    - Stormy Monday
    - Another Brick In The Wall, Pt. 2
    - Purple Haze
    - Sunshine Of Your Love
    - Hell Ain’t A Bad Place To Be

And some good suggestions not played fully:

    - Fire (Hendrix)
    - Immigrant Song
    - Celebration Day

Sorry about War Pigs grimace I'll do the homework on that for next time.

No vids from me I'm afraid, here's some photos:

I liked it, bit apprehensive about parking when I arrived and the front was full, but the side bit was fine. No-one else used that area for the whole day!

Kit was a bit beaten up, and the cymbals were either not great, or cracked. The snare was pretty good though. West Star was much better for that, but I doubt we'll be going back there? I'll look for some bargains before the next one and bring my own.

Plenty of things like music stands. The P.A. sounded fine from where I was, didn't look at the mixer.

The Italian supermarket / deli next door is brilliant smile

As I mentioned @TeleKinesis ;your ride cymbal sounded good.
For the next one we could possibly do "Spirit Of Radio".
Also, I was watching a programme on TV yesterday evening and Tom Petty's "Refugee" could be a good one.
Thanks @maharg101 for doing the booking; the studo was way better. I don't know haow many people were in the other band, but the car park was pretty empty after they left.
For me it was interesting sitting out some songs for Dennis to play bass on; I mentioned that we have quite different approaches to playing (I think he's more precise whereas I bassically dick around). His Dingwall was interesting, but I didn't spot any at the Kempton Park Guitar Show.
The problem with Led Zeppelin songs is the vocals; I've twice tried doing Plant aged 18 and will avoid a third time! (I think he avoided doing them live too...)
"Teenage Kicks" went OK too, though it didn't turn into a 15 minute jam :-).
