I thought it was the Andre Silva who played at Milan but it's a different one.  

A real shame, poor fella was married a few weeks back, and has 3 young kids.

Truly gutted. A great guy, fierce competitor and at his best had the special gifts of the top strikers, being in the right place and knowing where the goal is.

And he has a great sounding song which will be sung forever:

Awful awful news. He was a terrific footballer and part of that superb Wolves team that really established them in the league and set their expectations as a club (and i say this as a Baggie). The next Wolves v Liverpool fixture will be an occasion tinged with much sadness. I don't know much about Andre Silva but his stats look impressive in top leagues in Europe. Terrible tragic news, really sad, thoughts with their family.

Celebrate winning the league for team and country. Get happily married the next. However positive things may be, it’s brutal how life can be taken in a heartbeat. Such a tragic and devastating loss. RIP Diogo & Andre.

It's not the first time a sportsman has died in tragic circumstances but for some reason I found the news this morning particularly shocking.  Perhaps only because Jota's that bit better known than some.  I didn't know his brother was also a player.

A couple of years ago I was listening to a radio commentary on a Liverpool match, it was a particularly warm and humid evening and some players were struggling with the heat.  One of the commentators, who was Irish, said that Jota was the most Irish-looking Portuguese man he'd ever seen.  I liked that, and it stuck with me, but maybe now's not the best time to mention it.
