  • MXR super badass distortion has a very useful 3 band EQ.

    It’s a great sounding pedal.

I'm starting to do some open mics with acoustic.  Right now just an octive pedal and looper.  Want to add a dirt pedal, to get a more electric (low gain dirt) sound for the 'heavier' songs I do.  I only have fuzz pedals and none sound good...

Any recommendations?  Bonus points if it can run on battery!

    Ta!
How about a different approach - use a regular electric guitar with a regular amp less setup for the heavy/electric sounds and something like a Hotone Omni pedal for the acoustic stuff?

I've used a Boss GT100 for an acoustic sim with a neck humbucker and it can sound as good as a cheap electroacoustic into the PA - easily fine for an open mic night.

I'm actually going to start gigging some acoustic stuff in a duo soon and might well use it for a bit as I don't have a decent acoustic just now. FWIW I don't use the regular GT100 acoustic sim as it's crap by itself, but improves with parallel routing with a blended clean amp and a couple of eq blocks - I reckon adding an acoustic IR with my Mooer radar will help further

Nice! Thanks for updating us, do you like the acoustic sounds? Seems like a versatile solution, though I've never tried one.

It's approx 75% as loud/good as an acoustic... But makes up with comfort and ability to switch over to electric.

As an open mic guitar it's perfect... I like to run into a small board with looper for some songs...

Well, we’re all different, so I’m pleased for you re the Acoustasonic, and I know lots of other people are very happy with theirs, too.  I thought they were quite horrible - I tried the Tele, the Strat and the Jazzmaster bodies, US versions in every case. I didn’t expect them to sound good unplugged, but I expected a bit more dynamics when plugged in. Playing, they felt to me like a jazz guitar with a wound G string.

I far preferred the Taylor T5 range and the Baggs AEG-1. Didn’t like the Cole Clark with a humbucker and haven;t tried a Cole Clark True Hybrid.

Back on topic, for those still looking, I found the H90 and the Zoia both have algorithms that add some grit to a true acoustic guitar pickup (I have K&Ks in mine). Feedback can be an issue if the venue is giving you lots of guitar in the monitor, but otherwise, OK at just thickening it up a bit.

But, OP, if you like the Acoustasonic, you go for it and enjoy it. You’re you and I’m me.

I'm not bothered about non pick up sound.  Indeed I like it as quiet...   Also the other guitars look more full size, and 3x price...

I borrowed an Acoustasonic at the open mike last night and thought it was not a bad guitar at all.
