Have you considered asking for opinions here, maybe showing some photo's & using the opportunity to explain the circumstances & extent of any damage?
Far more likely to access a lot of experience & get an appropriate perspective on the value of the guitar.
    Just a thought?
The damage is not major, a luthier has confirmed it is cosmetic and a repair would still be slightly visible. The issue with selling on here is that I live in the far north and meeting up with potential buyer will not be likely so any buyer would be depending upon the description. It is hard to explain accurately the condition of a guitar and would not want to sell something that the buyer wasn't happy with. Putting photos on this forum seems so difficult, don't know why you can't just upload a jpeg like I would on other forums.
I would just be more comfortable selling to a dealer. I am also considering someone who will sell on a commission basis and would welcome any suggestions on that.
Putting photos on here is the major drawback of this forum. It is so much simpler on other forums I use. Somebody will undoubtedly help you out but it is a major hindrance.

Don’t see the issue with posting photos here, it takes a maximum of 30 seconds to upload a photo to, in my case, postimages.org, copy the link and paste it here.
A guitar doesn't care how good you are, all it asks for is it's played.

+1 for postimages. You set up an account, load your pics then copy & paste the link in here - thats it.
There's a 'how to post' tutorial under 'New Members' from the main menu.  Choice of several methods iirc.
     :)

I post almost exclusively from a mobile phone and its not worth the messing. Going through a third party or third party app is a massive pain too.

It doesn’t take any longer on a mobile!

I also use a mobile almost exclusively, and have posted from it without any issues  :).

Tried posting but gave up. I often have problems when trying to look at photos on other posts but when I click on the link I get message saying I need to open an account to view the photos and sometimes get a message saying I don't have permission.
Don't know why the forum owners make it so difficult. I am on several other forums (not music related) and all i need to do on them is upload photos in jpeg format. - so simple.

Just to add, things have progressed some what and have decided to keep my HD28 and will be selling my D28 instead. Not in a hurry to sell so will probably stick it on eBay for collection only so buyer can see before buying it.
I appreciate it restricts the number of potential buyers as they will have to live within reasonable travelling distance but as I am not wanting  a lot for the guitar, thinking around £1600 which will allow new owner to get a set up and smooth off a small blemish on the back of the neck and still not have paid a lot for a guitar of this quality, so this should attract in more potential buyers.
