  • Had this Zendrive 2 for over 15 years now. Prices seem to have crept up with the Eric Johnson association, but it's not going anywhere! IMG_20250901_114636

I don’t really have any rare or unique pedals. I’ve got a few that aren’t widely available anymore.

a Keeley TS9 Mod Plus that I’ll never part with. It always finds its way back on to my board at some point. They’re beginning to fetch a few quid from what I’ve seen, but regardless.

A Mk1 TRex Mudhoney. Great overdrive/fuzzy type thing. Sounds very good.

Way Huge Overrated Special. The Doubleland Special fetches a lot on the used market, but I can’t really justify one even being a JoBo fanboi, so the Overrated Special did the job. Fortunately I found one on this very forum. A very good boost. They come up every now and again.

Kingsley harlot for me.  Hardly any other pedal builders doing what he does.  And this harlot covers a lot of ground.  Buy one it’s great.

    What’s yours?

Mine’s probably my Analogman true bypass Digitech Whammy first edition, modded and signed by Mike Piera as a special one-off

Someone on here sold me the stock pedal and I can’t for the life of me remember who it was, but I’m eternally grateful.

Edit! - oh and my VERY spesh old 1970s Script MXR Phase 90, modded for true bypass and LED by a geezer called ICBM.

The red one and the orange one:

Sorry to derail the thread but where did you get that board, please, @viz ?

Also got a 70s colorsoumd fuzz wah that appears to have a superfuzz or mk 4 circuit in it (there are volume, drive and tone trims in it).

I've only seen one other like it as most of those fuzz wahs appear to have a one knob fuzz variant in them.
I had an ancient Dallas Arbiter Sound City fuzz-wah once - it sounded fantastic, but was unusably noisy with any amount of amp gain higher than an old non-MV amp cranked up, so I sold it. I’ve never found anything else that sounds quite like it.

I could be wrong, but from memory the fuzz and wah circuits were in parallel, not series as is normal.

The fuzz and the wah on mine did not play well together, it was very much either or.

Lemme see if I can find pics of the inside.

There we go, you can see the tone volume and drive trim pots, and they actually are, ive played with them:

Nice isn’t it? It was Alex Skolnick’s from his Ozzy tour, but I don’t know where he originally bought it.

I present to you the Danelectro Black Coffee. It’s the guitar players equivalent of the Monty Python Rabbit of Caerbannog.

Me: ”Metal distortion? It doesn’t even have a gain knob, lol. What a silly little teeny, tiny pedal.”

    Me: switches pedal on

    Also me: face melts

I dare anyone to try and find something as cute & innocent looking as this, which is simultaneously one of the highest gain pedals you’ll ever play  =)

Metal distortion? It doesn’t even have a gain knob, lol.
Of course it doesn’t - no metal player would ever set it anywhere other than full up, so why have one? Just preset it to max inside!

I've got a handful of Emmergy FX pedals, but he made me a version of the Later and Later analog delay (with fuzz circuit) pedal with the artwork from my first LP on (art by the immensely talented Anne Suliksowski). It's incredibly special to me and is of course a complete one-off.

I've since gathered a few of his pedals, including the Slowdriver distortion used by Christian from Slowdive, which sounds incredible and sustains forever, and the new Mirror Mirror which has two analog delays that can run in series or parallel for some really lovely options.

Feels like a namedroppy post but Mike from Emmergy is a good friend and it's always nice to sing his praises.

The pedal in question is bottom left on the board:

I've got a pedal that I call the Holy Mountain (because the graphics are copied from the bizarre psychedelic cult film of that name).  I bought it ages ago from a guy on Facebook marketplace who i believe made it himself. Think it's based on a Mid-fi Electronics pedal. It's basically a fuzz with a short delay which randomly modulates depending on how hard you play. It's very weird but occasionally you need that. I suppose there aren't any exactly the same.

Also honourable mention to the @ThorpyFX Secret Project 1, which is definitely not unique but it is the only 'limited edition ' pedal I have, being the first run of the pedal later called the Tacit Blue. Absolutely cracking fuzz.

Handiest pedal I have ever owned, one of the few that have lasted years on my board.
Makes everything sound better, has a great overdrive sound of its own and the output pad lets me turn things up full bore without deafening everyone.
    Great pedal

Not sure if these are common or not, but I don’t see many about. Awesome fuzz pedal I had up for sale for a short while, thankfully it didn’t sell, as it’s currently back on the board.

I think my Analogman stereo BiClone Chorus is pretty unique (as well as being fabulous sounding).

I've only seen another couple with 'BICLONE' stamped on it, rather than 'Bi-Chorus'. Even Google AI tells me I've got the name wrong!...

    I think, therefore.... I... ummmm........

I have a Minstral on the way - so that might fit this thread topic...

While not particularly unique (as in its sound is but its readily available) my Broadcast AP-ii is fantastic.

  • I have a few.

A @sporky valvesporker prototype. Never letting that one go. It's uniquely fat, shrill, transparent, noisy and fuzzy, low gain, monster high gain. Sometimes all at once. And it has a boost, because too much volume wasn't enough.

I have a couple of juansolo pedals. My own one-off, which is a tonebender muff circuit, an ultrastoner muff circuit and a super hard on style transistor circuit in one box, with a picture from Calvin and Hobbes under a tree. I also have an arnie terminator delay pedal and the "blue monster" overdrive - which is a super unique, dual band fet drive. https://moodysounds.com/wp-content/uploads/2017/05/Blüe_Monster_MS_Build_instruction_20131112_2.pdf

Finally, I have a couple of mass produced pedals no one has or wants by Ashton. They are shaped like feet and sound fantastic.

Unfortunately, these are the only pedals I will have soon - I've got a car repair and vet bills, which means that tomorrow I'll be snapping photos to try to flog the rest, including some cool vintage stuff. :( I can't let any of these ones go, though.

My only unique pedal is one I built myself.

It's a phase 45 circuit and a slightly modified tremolo (I think it was a heartthrob circuit I found online). They're cobbled into what used to be the foot-switch enclosure of a Behringer V-Amp 2 and finished off with some old strat knobs.

It's not very spectacular but does make quite a pleasing wobbliness that I quite like.

I guess this fits the bill. It’s relatively small batch, and has some very unique capabilities.

It’s a dynamic tremolo circuit where you’ve got an envelope control and a switch to control either the rate or the depth of the tremolo based on the guitar signal amplitude. It’s a ton of fun, and takes a classic effect and makes it even more interesting.

It’s also got an incredible gain circuit that is usable independently, making this a dual-distortion/tremolo pedal.

I’m in love with this one.
