I've been playing bass for 20 years today!! I've owned over a hundred (stupidly) and the hunt ended a couple of years ago. I'm not gigging but if I was, I'd probably just buy the Fender Rumble 800.

The most high end set up I had was...

Marleaux Consat Custom Fretless 5
Bravewood '55 Precision
Genz Benz 750 Head
Genz Benz NeoX 212T Cab
Malekko B:assmaster Pedal

And the most unusual basses were...

Kubicki Key Factor 5
Wilcox Lightwave Fretless 5
Hoyer EB3
Goodfellow Classic
John Birch 4001

Happy with...

Carvin SB5000 Fretless
Carvin IC4W
Trace Elliot Boxer 30
Boss ME50B

Thank you - If only it was as easy to do the same for guitar!

Jazz Box, Superstrat and Hardtail maybe?

  • You've owned over a hundred basses?  Jesus =)  That must've cost a fortune in strings!

I think most try other things at university, but there was a group of good eggs on Basschat that just used to swap toys. I remember being congratulated/teased by my housemates for an overnighter, when I was actually in a Premier Inn after a nerdy bass jam in Hereford...

...Which reminds me, the old funny shaped Vigier Arpege was another cracker.
