I am actually neither making nor modding anything to do with this guitar lol but thought I might detail how things develop during the process of putting it together.

I was just about to pull the trigger on Warmoth parts again for another build until I saw a reply to a thread here, that made me re-think and try something different.

So I gave @GSPBASSES a shout to set the ball rolling…

Alder body and flame maple neck being glued.

Neck and body cut. I’m going HSS with an all access neck joint and Gibson scale conversion neck

The body has been lightly roasted. Here it is up against an un-roasted alder body to the right.

Body ready to be sent for spraying

I love luminlay! Don’t have a guitar with it but have played some and it’s excellent. I actually had the idea of glowing frets about fifteen years ago and used little glow in the dark dot stickers on the side markers

Likewise! I made the mistake years ago of having black dots on a roasted maple neck but it was impossible to see them on a dimly lit stage. So I swapped them out for Luminlay and never looked back. Even white dots aren’t all that great on a roasted maple neck when it’s dark.

The great thing about Luminlay, is it seems to be the best of all worlds. Then white inner dot with black ring makes it easy to see in pretty much any situation. I don’t ever use the torch as stage lights power it up, so it gives off a nice subtle glow when things do go dark.

Holy guacamole that neck is beautiful.
Love the concept, too, with the short scale. Interested to hear how that works out!

Lumilay really helps if the stage is too dark, or the lights happen to not to be shining at the moment when you glance down to check your fretting hand position.

It’s expensive. I’m wondering about making my own luminous dots with Fimo.

Got these for now whilst I’m waiting for my pickup order to be done. It’s the Alnico II set and  who knows, I might very well keep them in…
