I've just built this NAS, but it turns out that it's not practical (read: the wife doesn't like it in its intended place in the lounge, despite prior negotiation). It's in a Jonsbo N4 case, which looks like this:
(I'll post a photo of the actual unit tomorrow)
Specs are:
Ryzen 3400G quad-core CPU
16GB DDR4-3200
8-port LSI SAS card
4 x 8TB SAS disks (although it'll take SATA drives as well)
1 x 120GB SATA SSD for logs/cache
1 x 120GB M.2 SATA SSD for the operating system
2.5Gbe network card
The 8TB drives are dated 2021, but only have two years of powered-on time, and all tested good without errors as of a couple of days ago. The SATA 120GB SSD is a sacrificial freebie, I've no idea what sort of usage it's had, but I suspect it's probably been hammered a bit as it was the OS drive in a server. The M.2 SATA SSD has had minimal use, I can get the health data from it if you want, but it's only been used in a very short-lived mini-PC build for the wife that she never really touched.
The CPU cooler and intake fan are both Noctua, so it's reasonably quiet when the drives aren't busy. Also, the 8TB disks are hot-swappable.
In terms of performance, it's easily capable of saturating the 2.5Gbe network interface, so ~280-290MB/s for large files. These are spinning rust drives, though, so it'll obviously be a fair bit slower than that with tons of tiny files.
It's got TrueNAS Scale already installed - can configure it however you want ahead of time (within reason, nothing exotic please), but it's not that hard and there are tutorials all over the place.
Looking for £450, collection or meet up within 50 miles of Peterborough. No postage, because I don't trust couriers with something like this.
Sorry, now withdrawn.

Also sorted for storage, but that looks great. GLWTS
I'm afraid not...I sold the disks, and I've filled it with Intel 1.6TB SSDs now so it's a lot more useful to me. I was going to combine it with my AI server, but I don't really want AI stuff running on the same machine as all my archives...
