Boss BP-1W - thoughts from owners?

I love the sound of this from all the demos I've seen, I'd be keen to hear from anyone who owns one.  I know the RE and CE modes are the big ticket feature but how is the natural mode as a purely clean boost?  It looks like there's not a whole lot of level with unity being at 12.

It's great. Although probably not much use as a boost, from my experience of using it. I ended up selling mine on as it was a little polite vs what I wanted from a fuzz.

Are you thinking of the FZ-1?

    Oops

BP-1w is excellent & works great as a clean boost if you’re just looking to add a bit more. It really shines when you push the gain up a teeny bit. It’s same sort of volume boost as ts9/sd-1

The natural setting is ok, kinda transparent. Obvs, you’d be better looking at the MXR micro amp/Echoline boost/MXR Line Booster/TC Spark if it’s big, transparent volume boost that you really want.

The natural setting is ok, kinda transparent but not huge volume boost. Obvs, you’d be better looking at the MXR micro amp/Echoline boost/MXR Line Booster/TC Spark if that’s what you really want.
Ah that's interesting, yeah I'm looking at it as a replacement for my SD Pickup Booster which is along the same lines as the others you mention.  Sounds like the BP is more like an interesting low gain kind of thing rather than a big fuck off clean dB machine.

I use the MXR CAE line driver/booster and it is perfect. Tons of level and will send a marshall in the edge of breakup into full grunge.

Yep, the MXR or Exholine are perfect. Basically the same pedal - single dial that goes from louder to lots of dbs.

I have been looking at one of these, I had a quick try on one at the Brighton show and it sounded good. For me the thing it has over the TC/MXR etc. is the switch. I have a Boss graphic which is great as a boost but quite sensitive to set up.

I’ve just added a TC Spark Booster to my board, it’s a really useful pedal.

If you want a characterful boost that wakes an amp up, check out the boost side of a Lovepedal Amp11.

I love the RE mode as an OD. Also love the RE and CE modes as boosts into an OD/dist pedal. Haven't really used the NAT mode yet but have no doubt it would be great for just a clean volume boost.

I've had two on mine for a while, one set for a transparent overdrive in clean mode, the other in 'mid' mode for a TS9-type boost.  Excellent pedals and cheap as chips!  I'm stamped on mine many a time and they're still going strong.
Wanted:  Bad Cat Cub IIR, Hiwatt Custom 20, Rothwell pedals
