Very true. I have four black waterproof jackets for work. One 2.5 layer, one Jersey-lined 3 layer, one lightly insulated, one insulated and fleece-lined. Those cover me down to about 0°C, then I have a big blue Musto primaloft parka for when it's proper-cold.

I know they are heavy on the wallet, but a Moncler puffer will last you forever. 

You can get ones with a discrete badge so you don’t look like a drug dealer which is a real bonus. 

They just don’t ever wear out, they  are as good on day 1000 as they were on day 1. So for quality, comfort and warmth I think they are superb.
