Fender Player II Jazz.

Hello all, I haven't been on here for a while.
Does anyone own, or know anything about Fender Player II Jazz Basses?
I've seen a real beauty, and have been offered a good deal on a trade in, but £849 seems a bit steep for a Mexican.
I didn't play it in the shop, just negotiated a deal.
I would just like to know from anyone's experience if they are worth the money.
Thank you.

I've not played a Player 2 but did try the first series - I thought they were very nice.

Loads of Mex instruments are over £1000 now - it's just inflation. When I got my American Standard Strat in 2003 it was under £800 new - the nearest current equivalent would be the American Professional - and they are £1500 to £1800.

FWIW, I have a Player 1 Telecaster and it's better than any American Fender guitar I've ever had, and I have a parts guitar assembled from Player bits and it's also excellent.

Thanks fretmeister, I kind of forgot about the price of everything nowadays, makes sense. I think I will be buying the bass.
I know what you mean about the quality of MIM Fenders now. I have a Baja Telecaster and I'm yet to play one better.
    Cheers mate.

Either host them somewhere that isn't Imgur as they have blocked UK access and link them in a post, or buy a forum sub for a few quid and the forum will host your photos.

Did you end up buying this? If not I would consider the MIJ Hybrid range, very very close in build quality to the American Pro 2 line(I own both)

No worries, when I was buying mine the only place I could find selling them new was Scan, but they didn't have the finish I wanted.

I imported mine new from Japan for £1000 all in, so they are slightly cheaper to import than buy new or second hand in the UK.

    That's interesting.
I've had a look online, and Thomann are doing them for £1,399.
I really prefer to play them in the shop before I hand over the money though.

I'd probably look at doing a road trip to somewhere like BassBros depending on where you live, they have quite a few second Fender Jazz Basses for sale currently. I bought my P Bass from them, although I ordered it online as they are quite far from me.

I think £1400 is too much for a MIJ Fender, considering they retail for £800 new in Japan.

I don't want to pay over a grand for one anyway, plus I need to do a trade in. One in, one out, sort of thing.
