Bass Buzz

Scotty55Scotty55 Frets: 182
Following on from the advice re a new bass for £500, SWMBO has got me a Fender Precision II for my 60th (can't touch it until te day :-(). She was going to go for a Music Man Stingray (?) but it was £3k and I would have felt guilt at having such an expensive piece of kit for my occasional poor playing.

I do want to improve, though, and have had the course offered by BassBuzz (Beginner to Badass) recommended to me.

Anyone got any experience of using the site and the results? I consider myself a beginner - not yet progressed to intermediate.

Having skimmed through a couple of the Bass Buzz tutorial videos, I would say that the lessons are fine - well paced for whatever level you are at.

As a speaker of British English and a part-time pedant, I have a few issues with the mosuse of technican terms. e.g. A fret is a piece of wire set into the fingerboard. The gaps between frets are the fingering positions. (I follow the convention of naming the position according to the fret that it is immediately below. e.g. Where the dot inlay nearest the nut appears on the fongerboard is the third position.)

I disagree with the place where the tutor positions his fretting finger(s). IMO, he goes too close to the fret. This is asking to bend the string sharp. The only excuse for playing like that is if the majority of your playing is on fretless.
Loneliness is a cloak you wear.
A deep shade of blue is always there.
