AI for vocals

What's Hot
Anyone use AI for vocals as I can't sing to save my life so have to rely on singers for my songs? If so what are you using, auto tune or completely creating a vocal?

    Nope to AI.

I'm ok with a smidge of auto tune is ok to fix the occasional wobble, especially when I know the singer can deliver fine but the session is over or we don't have time to punch in for every tiny thing. But I don't like to use any on my own voice

    I'd imagine it's a slippery slope.

Especially if that particular song started to do well for you.

I heard a mates AI song last week. He supplied the lyrics, breakdown of verse/chorus and style.
       Sounded bloody amazing.
A great tool for songwriters incapacitated or no access to musicians or recording facilities.
But totally agree it’s a slippery slope which will be abused through laziness, cost cutting, etc.

I wonder if people said the same about drum machines and programming?

I don't like my voice, even on the odd occasion that I'm in tune.

I was playing around on guitar one day when I suddenly thought 'that's remeniscant of the early Beatles' (probably the inclusion of an augmented chord at the end of the sequence).  I decided to run with it.  Quickly penned a track in the style of that era and used AI to turn my vocals into something resembeling those of John Lennon.

    I'm using Synthesiser V.

    It's not AI it's a voice bank.

You score out the notes and then assign words to the notes. It takes a bit of tweaking to get it to sound good but I've had good results.

Here is a track I made using Solaria 2 I think it sounds quite reasonable.

As I mentioned it's not AI it's a real persons voice which you use to create tracks.

Have you considered using something relatively inexpensive and simple to use like the Boss VE-2 Vocal Harmonist?
It's main purpose is to generate harmonies of the main voice, but it does have optional real-time pitch correction enhancement for the main voice that works fairly well.  There are a number of similar offerings by other manufacturers at a range of price points.  A small box like this might just do enough for you to be happy enough with how you sound.

    Another no to AI

Everyone has a singing voice - you just need to find yours, or get other people to sing what you've written.

That reminds me to get back to work on the cover challenge track I've been putting off since I realised how difficult the vocal isgoing to be. Embrace the pain of hearing yourself struggle and go with it. It will get better with practice, like every other instrument

If you've got a PC and can send AI a prompt you can make music yourself, surely?

Well I’m guessing that’s basically what he does.

You said it was a great tool for songwriters with no access to musicians or recording facilities.

A PC is a recording facility. So if you can send an AI a prompt, you can record something yourself using the PC you used to send the prompt. If you're actually a songwriter.

Just made this one I think it's fairly decent for vocals:
