Found air pods

What's Hot

Last week found some air pods on a local beach. Took em to work, charged up and made sure they show up on the find my app. The owner should be able to see where they are and come get them surely?
I’d hoped I’d be able to send a message somehow to inform them but it isn’t possible ( apparently it used to be)
Any ideas ?
Am I missing something?
I’d rather not hand them in to the police ( not that I don’t trust them but with small stuff like this it’s usually pointless)

I would suggest giving them to the police, just because technically not handing them can get you in trouble

If I lost mine I would disable them via Find My and move on with my life, most likely.

That said I also wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people don't even know Find My exists

I found an empty Airpods case on a TfW train once, tried handing it at lost property at Manchester Picadilly but staff weren’t interested. It was pinging via Find My Airpods in the hotel room that evening, so when I got back home I charged it up and posted it to the main TfW lost property office in Newport railway station, along with a note explaining which train they’d been left on. I was hoping the owner would see it pinging in Newport station and figure it out, but I suspect that it didn’t happen.

If they know what they are doing they will activate ‘lost’ mode which means you will see contact details.

I'd seen this on a google search but i can see the owners initials but nothing else, no contact option. As has been mention before (and I cant imagine the police will keep em charged so the user will be notified) lost and found can be pretty useless.

Would it be worth dropping them at an Apple Store?  Or ringing Apple and see what they say?

Their Customer Service is very good.

nearest Apple store is Cardff, might drop em a message this afternoon. I cant help thinking they either not bothered or don't know about Find My (as suggested earlier). I'd be spamming that find my button if i'd lost my 150 quid headphones

Nothing to do with losing £150 earphones, but funny story...

One of the managers at my place has an employee who is... challenging.  She is one of those conspiracy bods but since a relationship breakup is also quite rude and nasty at times.  Amazingly, she once called her boss a "stupid little man"... and she is still working here...

Anyhow... one day she left her phone on her desk but was using earbuds to do a seance with some friends when she was supposed to be working.  For some reason the audio was also coming from her phone sat on her desk and her boss recorded it...

Not sure she will be with us long, if I'm honest.
I must be a narcissist, God knows that I can't resist, to make a song and dance about it?

Check your local police website - they will have an online reporting form for found objects.

People who have lost stuff can register the loss at https://www.reportmyloss.com/uk. which is used by police and other services to try to trace righful owners.

But she'll still be contactable via ouija board?

Possibly - but won't try personally!

I lost one AirPod in a Pret bin. Not the most fun afternoon of my life- how long do you search for a single earphone amongst food waste before giving up? I didn’t find it.

it did lead to me buying some AirPod 2s which are vastly better so it worked out well in the end.
