New Old Guitar Day

blueskunkblueskunk Frets: 2933
Woohoo - had this little beaut a while back and totally loved the minibuckers and feel of the guitar. Had it fully sorted by the master that is Brian Eastwood - full fret dress/set up etc then traded it like a knob!!!

Missed it ever since and saw of Gumtree the other day and just had to have it back

Its not an expensive guitar but one of them that is just too good for what it is if u get me. Just awesome like a mini SG or something.

  • That's cool. There are a couple of guitars I'd love to get back (regrettably one is a '63 Strat I couldn't afford!) I'm glad you're reunited.

Thanks Mr Homer , haha this was significantly less then a 63 strat thankfully.

Tbh so close to Christmas i shouldn't have but i knew how good it is and have been thinking about this for a while so it felt like karma we got back together.

My '63 Strat was bought from Guitar Player in Rochdale in 1983 - I'm guessing as you know Brian Eastwood that you are in the area?

Wow, was it on Drake Street which then turned into Dr Rock?

Yes as much as I'm loathed to admit , i reside in Rochdale but every cloud has its silver lining as Brian is just up the road , hes a great guy :)

Lovely little thing, I was trying to haggle on a Hofner club on gumtree the other day, Ilike the stamped pickups, are they mini's?

It was on St. Mary's Gate - closed in the early nineties. It's a beauticians now.

    A great shame.

Brian did quite a lot of repair work for them.

@richardhomer cant recall that one at all but saying that it was pretty much house music and rap back then for me.

Still surprised i can remember it though as Dr Rock always stuck out to me.

I'll have a natter about that when i next see Brian :)

It was a great shop. Arthur Bird who owned it remains a close friend of mine. Brian will remember it well.

Nice one man, sounds like a bloody good shop which we've never had again.

Bought some bits from Dr Rock when a guy called Keith, I think owned it. Never remember seeing many nice guitars back then but he did have loads of PA gear.

Sadly Keith Hand died some years ago.

Rick Lowe used to work at the Rochdale shop and subsequently at Sounds Great and Tone World. He's a gentleman - now with Zoom UK.

Wow thats him, sad stuff. He certainly was a character :)

I remember Rick from Soundsgreat , bought many a guitar from him , nice guy. Did me a good deal on a brand new Ibanez Artcore , top of the range one when they first came out.

They used to have a brilliant second hand section.
