Contemporary Big Band music - Manchester Jazz Festival - 18th May

A night my friend Ben has been running called Big Ideas celebrates it's one year anniversary with a "best-of" night.

The basic premise has been; Ben picks a theme, a bunch of people arrange and/or write some music, a large ensemble gather on the Monday afternoon to rehearse it, and then perform it in the evening. I've been an audience member and performer at a few, always fun, and I'm playing at this one, featuring some of the favourite tunes from the past year. They've had a Bowie night, Black Sabbath, Radiohead, as well as jazz composers Carla Bley, Charles Mingus, John Coltrane and plenty more. All arranged and performed by Northern musicians. I've talked @Leisceoir into coming along, anyone else around?
